Sometimes I use blogs as post-it notes. A place to store information for discussion. OK that’s more than a post-it note, but you get the idea. At our last meeting, Jeff Cape, mentioned the idea of cyber auctions and there was some discussion. We didn’t reach a decision or consensus. I found a good article that discusses auctions for your not-for-profit on TechSoup. In addition, I found charitybuzz.com. I like the layout of that site and they sure do have some nice stuff on there.

When you’re ready to learn more about the NC Walk, on the left side of the page, under “2009 Walks,” scroll down to and click on “10/03 Durham, NC.” (or you can go directly to http://hlaa.convio.net/site/TR?fr_id=1560&pg=entry)
At the top of the page, under the heading “North Carolina Walk4Hearing,” click on either “Join a Team” or “Find a Walker or Team.”
If you type in “Sertoma” for the team name, you will find “Sertoma Clubs of the Doug Council District.” (or you can go directly to the team page at http://hlaa.convio.net/site/TR/Teamraiser/2009NorthCarolinaWalk?pg=team&fr_id=1560&team_id=12080)
If you would like to join the Sertoma team, click on “Join,” and go through the necessary registration steps. (You can donate online using your credit card during the registration process.)
If you would like to sponsor a walker on our Sertoma team, click on a registered walker’s name . then on “Make a Gift” below the thermometer on the left side of the page. (Minimum donation is $15.)
Our Sertoma team goal is $3,000. We’ve just begun registering walkers and taking sponsors, so please help us meet our goal!
Walk4Hearing DETAILS:
DATE: Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009
TIME: Registration begins at 9 a.m.; Walk begins at 10 a.m.
LOCATION: Research Triangle Park, 4300 Emperor Blvd. Durham, NC
DURATION: As long as it takes to walk, crawl, roll or run 5K (3.1 miles)
SERTOMA EXHIBIT:
Sertoma is getting in on the first year of the North Carolina Walk4Hearing. We’ll have a general Sertoma exhibit set up at the event. As part of the exhibit,
We’ll have tables and chairs set up under a tent (in case of too much sun or inclement weather).
We’ll distribute earplugs and Sertoma SAFEears educational materials.
We’ll have plenty of space to include copies of your club brochure. If you don’t have a club brochure, start working on one today! (Or join with other clubs in your city to create one . we’ll have walkers at the event from across the state.)
We could use some really good digital photos of Sertomans doing what we do . serving our communities. We’d like our exhibit to be representative of Sertoma across the state, so please share your photos today.
If you have photos or brochures that you can share, please e-mail me as soon as possible. Also, please let me know if you would like to “person” the exhibit.
